Welcome Week, Enrolment and Induction


Welcome and Induction

Welcome and Induction is your introduction to your course and life as an HSU student. You’ll get important information about your course, meet key members of your teaching and support teams, and find out everything you need to know to get started.

Both Induction and Welcome Week are important parts of starting your HSU journey.

 

Registration and Enrolment

You will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your initial registration ahead of induction and enrolment. Please follow the instructions in the email and complete your registration as soon as possible.

Information for your First Day


Where to go on your first day

For your induction day on 9 September 2026, please head to the main reception.

What time to arrive

Please arrive at 9.15am for the induction day on 9 September 2026.

What to bring

No specialist equipment is required for your induction day. Please just bring your preferred note-taking device or materials (e.g., a laptop, tablet, or notepad).

Dress Code

There is no required dress code for this course.

Induction day commences at 9.30am so please arrive for 9.15am.

 

Teaching Days

University taught days will be on a Wednesday

Unit 1 16/09 – 25/11/26 (face to face) & OSCE examination 16/12/26
Unit 2 13/01 – 03/03/27 (blended)
Unit 3 14/04 – 30/06/27 (blended)

There is no required pre-reading prior to starting the course. However, each individual unit will provide a dedicated reading list to support your learning throughout your studies.

Uniforms/scrubs

You aren’t required to wear a uniform or scrubs on this course.

Any Equipment

It is recommended that you purchase a high-quality stethoscope in preparation for the course. You will use this continuously in clinical practice to support your development as an ACP.

Emily Middleton

Course Lead & Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice

Emily is the course leader and senior lecturer for MSc Advanced Clinical Practice. She is a HCPC registered Physiotherapist with 24 years of NHS and private experience. She is a NHSE recognised advanced clinical practitioner in the MSK speciality and passionate about developing and educating the future advanced clinical workforce across all pillars of practice.
