Armed Forces Covenant

HSU Signs Armed Forces Covenant

Health Sciences University signed the Armed Forces Covenant in October 2024, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to supporting the UK’s military community. The signing, held at our Bournemouth Campus, marked a significant step in recognising and supporting the contributions of service personnel, veterans, and their families.

What Is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary pledge that reflects an organisation’s dedication to supporting those who serve or have served in the UK Armed Forces, along with their families. It acknowledges the unique sacrifices made by service personnel and seeks to ensure they are treated with fairness and respect in all areas of life.

By committing to the Covenant, organisations pledge to uphold key principles, including ensuring that members of the Armed Forces community are not disadvantaged in accessing public and commercial services such as education, healthcare, and housing. Where appropriate, particularly for those injured or bereaved, the Covenant also promotes additional support. It encourages greater understanding and strengthens relationships between the Armed Forces and wider society, recognising their service and ensuring those who serve, or have served, receive the opportunities and support they deserve.

Our Commitment to Inclusion and Support

HSU is proud to be part of a growing network of UK universities, NHS trusts, charities, businesses, and schools dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces community. This commitment reflects our broader values of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.

Our distinctive multi-professional environment promotes interprofessional education and collaborative healthcare, benefiting not only our students and staff, but also the wider communities we serve.
