What is UCAS Clearing?

UCAS Clearing is your final opportunity to secure a place at university for September 2026. If you have yet to apply or are reconsidering your choices talk to us about options at HSU.

 

 

When does Clearing open?

Clearing 2026 opens 2 July and closes 19 October (or when course capacities are met).

What is the application process?

If you are interested in applying to HSU through clearing, give us a call on our Clearing hotline to discuss your options.

You can only submit one choice at a time in Clearing, so it is important you talk to us first so that we can advise you on whether we can make you an offer and next steps.d

What do I need to prepare before I apply?

Before you contact us, you will need A UCAS Personal ID Number Details of your qualifications.

If you haven’t applied to university before  Register through UCAS to  get your ID number.

We recommend researching the course before you call so that you can ask us any questions you may have when you call.

Who is clearing open to?

  • Didn’t receive any offers or none you wanted to accept.
  • Didn’t meet the conditions of your firm or insurance offer on results day.
  • Applied after the June deadline or you haven’t applied at all yet.
  • Declined your firm university offer using the “decline my place” button

Student support is a real strength at HSU. Dedicated teams offer a range of services including academic support, wellbeing services, careers advice and disability support. The university’s smaller size means students feel known, supported and encouraged to succeed.

HSU’s dedicated student services team offers a range of services to meet a range of needs, including:

  • Study Skills Support: Offering help with writing, presentation preparation, time management, and more.
  • Financial Guidance: Students can access advice on managing finances, funding studies, and exploring available resources.
  • Career Development: Offering expert career advice and jobs guidance to help students prepare for life after university.
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing: Wellbeing advisers and counselling services provide confidential support to help students build resilience and succeed. With daily triage appointments and a 24/7 helpline, help is always available when its needed.

HSU offer additional specialised services:

  • Wellbeing officer: Providing confidential guidance and practical strategies to improve overall wellbeing, making the university experience productive and enjoyable.
  • Disability support: Disability advisors create personalised plans to help students overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
  • International student support: Specialist staff assist non-native English speakers in developing their language skills, with an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) tutor available for ongoing support.

Joel Kearney

HSU graduate Joel Kearney studied BSc Clinical Exercise Science before progressing into elite sport performance, biomechanics and strength and conditioning. Following an MSc at LJMU, UKSCA accreditation and a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship PhD, Joel has worked with organisations including Liverpool FC, British Cycling, British Gymnastics and the FA, and is now Head of Strength & Conditioning at Championship Rugby Union side Caldy RFC.

Since joining HSU in 2023, Billy Coleman has been teaching across the BSc and MSc Sport Rehabilitation programmes while also coordinating student placements. A BASRaT-accredited practitioner and HSU MSc Sport Rehabilitation & Therapy graduate, they combine teaching with hands-on industry experience at Wimborne Town FC and Bournemouth Heart Club, supporting patients across cardiac, respiratory, diabetes and cancer rehabilitation.
