Welcome to the Research Hub for the Health Business School

We are excited to announce plans to develop a HBS Research Centre, dedicated to producing world-leading, impactful research and fostering collaborations across public, private, and charitable sectors.

The Centre will address critical challenges in health, wellbeing, and sustainability by driving innovative, interdisciplinary research and creating practical solutions through partnerships with international, national, and regional networks.

Objectives

  • Advance insights into health and wellbeing challenges and healthcare management.
  • Provide evidence-based solutions to improve professional practice, policy, and strategic planning.
  • Promote interdisciplinary approaches across social, economic, health, and environmental sciences.
  • Collaborate with policymakers, communities and organisations at all levels.
  • Engage students in research and knowledge exchange to enhance their skills.
  • Engage the public with our research and showcase research through public events and networking opportunities.

Key themes

Our research will span key current topical challenges including the following: public health, workforce wellbeing, sustainable development, society-environment interactions and nature-based solutions. Our work focuses on issues with real-world impact, focusing on the public good and in support of communities in urban and rural settings.

Opportunities for students and early career researchers

We aim to support skill development for undergraduate and postgraduate students through:

  • Participation in academic research projects.
  • Mentorship programmes for writing research publications, proposal development, and knowledge exchange activities.
  • Training opportunities, including through research assistantships and in participatory research methods.
  • Supporting the creation of annual showcase events made available to public, wider business and academic communities to promote student and early-career researcher projects.

Professional and public engagement

Our team will actively participate in professional networks and forums, sharing research and best practices to influence healthcare management and policy. We will also engage the public through research awareness campaigns and community-driven research projects.

Collaboration and inclusivity

The Centre will foster collaboration with colleagues across disciplines to drive innovation and create meaningful impact, furthering the work of healthcare management professionals. By bridging research, practice, and education, we aim to be a hub of excellence for advancing knowledge and improving outcomes across healthcare and related sectors.
