Overview
Our beautiful, historical campus in Dorset has been educating chiropractors to treat patients with musculoskeletal disorders since the 1960s. Today, we remain world-leading providers of undergraduate chiropractic education, thanks to our diverse, passionate and dedicated teaching faculty and cutting-edge practical facilities.
As one of our MChiro students, based in the AECC School of Chiropractic, you’ll start building your clinical experience from day one with patient observations and case studies. You will learn and practice your diagnostic and therapeutic skills through a combination of practical classes and clinical skills lab sessions, with our tutors always on hand to help. You’ll make use of our specialised clinical imaging facilities, and come face-to-face with real human anatomy at our dedicated pro-section facility. By your final year, you’ll be managing your own patients under supervision in our large on-site teaching clinic. Our Foundation Year for Master of Chiropractic course offers a five year route to a chiropractic qualification, providing an additional year to support students with the skills required to progress into the first year of our Master of Chiropractic – MChiro (Hons) course at the HSU School of Chiropractic.

Foundation Year for Master of Chiropractic
Our MSc Chiropractic course offers an alternative route to a chiropractic qualification with a focus on research, data collection and analysis alongside academic teaching and clinical placement in our on-site chiropractic clinic. This course is for students who have successfully met all learning outcomes at level 6 of the MChiro (Hons) course and may be desirable if you are considering a career in research or academia, or may be preferred by some national associations.
The MSc Chiropractic (pre-registration) is an intensive, full-time degree over two years where your previous knowledge will be used to develop clinical problem solving, diagnostic and reasoning skills alongside a programme of clinical skills development.

Study Time
Our students will spend around 20 hours per week engaged in seminars, practical skills classes and online learning plus around 10 hours per week in self-directed study.
Studying for the MChiro requires dedication and commitment, but is immensely rewarding.
Placement opportunity
In your final year of study you’ll be treating patients under supervision in our large on-site teaching clinic which sees thousands of patient contacts a year.
The student chiropractic placement will commence in the final year of your MChiro course, working under the close supervision of highly experienced clinic tutors. Having had hands on practise since day one of your education, placement students will be expected to deliver thorough, person-centred care, communicating the latest insights and knowledge to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.

Year 4
In your final year, time is split between being on placement and your academic studies. Throughout this year you will develop as a student clinician under the supervision of qualified chiropractors and have opportunities to learn from other healthcare professionals within the University College’s multidisciplinary clinical services. You will also develop your professional identity as a chiropractor and healthcare professional, helping you prepare for clinical practice after graduation, and have the opportunity to develop in specific areas through optional units and specialist placements.

What grades do I need?
If you’re applying from the UK or Ireland:
You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English language and Maths. Key Skills/Functional Skills Level 2 in Communication and Application of Number can be accepted in place of English and Maths GCSE. For mature or non-traditional applicants consideration will be given to individual circumstances.
If you’re applying for Year 1:

- 120 UCAS Tariff Points.
- A-levels: BBB or above. Your A-level subjects have to include Biology. General Studies will not be considered.
- BTEC Extended Diploma: Distinction or above in a relevant Extended Diploma with significant proportion of human biology and physiology units (please contact admissions@aecc.ac.uk with details of units you are taking for confirmation of Year 1 or Foundation year entry).
- Access to HE Diploma: 45 credits at level 3 – at least 30 credits must be at Distinction, and the other 15 credits at Merit. All Biology modules will need to be a Distinction grade. We accept a range of different Access programmes to join us on the Master of Chiropractic course, including: Access to Human Health Sciences, Access to Science, Access to Medicine, Access to Nursing.
- International Baccalaureate: Overall grade of 34 points with Biology at Higher level with a grade of 5 or above.
- Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers: Biology. This should be at Advanced Higher Level, with grades AABBB or above.
- Irish Leaving Certificate: Minimum of 5 subjects at Higher level with grades H2, H2, H3, H3, H3 or above. This should include Biology.
- T Levels: Merit in all Healthcare and Science subjects or above with Grade B in B1 Core Exams. Other T Levels are not accepted.

If you live in the UK, we’ll need a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (Enhanced DBS) check. It’s standard for all UK students and we’ll be there to guide you through the process once you’ve applied.
To gain a place on the course applicants must also successfully undergo an interview process. These interviews will be undertaken remotely via Teams. More information about this process will be provided if/when applicants are invited to the interview stage.

These fees are for the 2024-25 academic year only and may be subject to increase in subsequent years of study. Any increase will be in line with our Tuition Fees Policy but will not be more than 5%.
Additional course costs
Your tuition fees will cover the cost of all mandatory elements of your course. There are additional course related costs are not included in the tuition fees. So you will need to budget for them when you plan your spending.
