Felicity is a HCPC registered Therapeutic Radiographer, and Senior Lecturer and Deputy Course Lead for the BSc Radiotherapy & Oncology programme.

Biography

Felicity completed her undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Radiography at the University of Portsmouth before commencing clinical practice. She worked for 7 years at University Hospitals Dorset, including 6 years as a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer. She also worked as the Radiotherapy Research Radiographer, and a Lecturer Practitioner across both HSU and UHD before transitioning to full time academia. She has a keen interest in Health and Safety serving as the trade union representative for the Society of Radiographers for many years. During her tenure as a clinical radiographer, she also completed a PGCert in Health Sciences Education with HSU, and an MSc in Advanced Radiotherapy & Oncology Practice at the University of Hertfordshire. She is currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Education with the University of Portsmouth.

Research interests:

Her research focuses on radiotherapy clinical education, and she has recently completed studies into the effects of new technology (SGRT) on student clinical learning and a national study into the confidence and competence of clinical educators to provide clinical supervision to radiotherapy students. Her doctoral thesis aims to understand student experiences of clinical supervision when on clinical placement, and how the academic institution can help facilitate and standardise an effective approach to this in practice.
