Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography and Course lead, BSc Radiography (Diagnostic Imaging)

Victor Chigbundu Nwaiwu is a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead in Diagnostic Radiography at Health Sciences University, with extensive academic and clinical experience across Africa, Asia, and Europe. He is HCPC-registered Radiographer, active researcher, author, editor and educator, currently working towards Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Biography

Excellence personified, result driven and a Doctoral candidate in Radiography on course for Distinction, with a proven track record and wealth of professional experience acquired in Africa (Nigeria), Asia (Malaysia) and Europe (United Kingdom), spread across Private health firms, Public hospital facilities, Non-governmental/ International organizations (NGOs), and Academic settings.

He is HCPC registered Diagnostic Radiographer, kickstarted his career quite early as Diagnostic Radiographer at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital following graduation from undergraduate studies in 2016. He grew to Senior Radiographer and later went on to Head the department of Radiography at Catholic Maternity Hospital, Nigeria (2019-2020). Between 2020-2022, transitioned into the NGO space, working as Lead Radiographer in USAID funded health projects (KP Care 1, TB-LON and MHAC) with Heartland Alliance International, headquartered in Chicago (United states), partnered with KNCV Tuberculosis and later with International Organization for Migration-UN Migration. Within this time, was an MSc student researcher /tutor at University of Suffolk United Kingdom. In 2022, he assumed the role as Educator and Lead Researcher in Radiography at Lincoln University College, Malaysia; also concurrently taking up remote research positions as Research Lead/ Research Associate, Program manager and Associate Director with Life science Nigeria, Patient.ng and NaijaPatient.org respectively.

He has Scopus publications, undergone extensive certified CPD trainings, hold editorial and peer-reviewer positions in multiple top scientific journals (Current Medical Imaging, International Journal of Clinical Case Reports and Reviews, Clinical Cardiology and Cardiovascular Interventions, Case Chronicles and Clinical reports, LatIA, etc.), participated in several international workshops/summits, invited as guest speaker in global conferences, and earned numerous national/international awards and accolades, including Proficiency in ICT (AfriHub Scholarship, 2010), Distinction in undergraduate Research (Nigeria, 2016), Distinction in Global Health Research (United Kingdom, 2022), Outstanding Author Award (JMAI, 2024), Outstanding Oral Presenter (Thailand, 2024), and Scholarships for both MSc (United Kingdom) and PhD (Malaysia) studies in 2020 and 2022 respectively to mention but a few. He joined Health Sciences University as Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography in 2025 and has recently been appointed as Course Lead for the BSc Radiography (Diagnostic Imaging) degree. He is currently working towards Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Highly skilled in research (qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods), teaching, academic writing, quality paper reviews, conference presentations and training of students; with expertise in the principle, physics and AI use in Medical Imaging (Conventional Radiography, Ultrasound, CT/MRI and Mammography), as well as public health radiography approaches to improving health outcomes.
