Welcome to the MSc Sport Rehabilitation and Therapy (pre-registration) at Health Sciences University!
We’re delighted that you’ve chosen to join us and are looking forward to welcoming you to HSU this September. You’re about to begin an exciting and intensive journey towards a career as a qualified sport rehabilitator.
This course is designed to build on the knowledge and experience you already have, while developing the clinical skills, professional confidence and practical expertise you’ll need to work effectively with people across sport, exercise and rehabilitation settings. Throughout the course, you’ll develop your skills in areas including injury assessment, rehabilitation, soft tissue therapy, pitch-side first aid and supporting athletes through their recovery and return to sport. Our practical, hands-on approach means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn, practise and develop your skills alongside experienced staff and fellow students.
A key part of your experience will be the opportunity to put your learning into practice. You’ll undertake 400 hours of applied practice, giving you valuable experience of working in real-world settings and helping you develop the professional skills and confidence needed for your future career.

Welcome Week is your chance to meet your tutors, university teams and, most importantly, your new classmates. You’ll also have the opportunity to get to know your campus, take part in social activities and start settling into university life.
Induction is your introduction to your course and life as an HSU student. You’ll get important information about your course, meet key members of your teaching and support teams, and find out everything you need to know to get started.

Before starting the MSc Sport Rehabilitation and Therapy, we recommend that you familiarise yourself with Brukner & Khan’s Clinical Sports Medicine.
Students should be aware that there may be other course costs in addition to course fees. Some of the potential costs you may need to consider are provided below, but please note that this is not an exhaustive list.
All fees are correct at the time of writing and may be subject to change.
For all Sports Rehabilitation courses, applicants are responsible for covering the cost of your Enhanced
DBS Check and any Police Checks required. These costs are non-refundable. You are also required to subscribe to the DBS Update service for the duration of your studies so that your DBS status can be checked as required.
Enhanced DBS Check: approx. £58
Police checks: Subject to local charges.
DBS update services: currently £16 per annum, plus a £5 admin fee.
Students are expected to purchase a branded polo shirt to be worn for practical teaching, placements, assessments and any outward-facing roles such as open days and visits.
It is recommended that BSc Sport and Exercise Science students apply for student membership with the Chartered Association of Sport & Exercise Science but this is not essential.
Membership: approx. £26-31 per annum
Students on the BSc Sport Rehabilitation and MSc Sport, Rehabilitation and Therapy course must complete a recognised advanced trauma care qualification to be eligible for BASRaT registration.
Cost: approx. £350
Teaching materials are made available in electronic format on the Virtual Learning Environment. If
students wish to have a printed copy they may print these materials at their own cost (see below). Core texts are available in the library but there are limited numbers, and most students buy some, but not necessarily all, textbooks. Applicants are advised not to purchase these in advance.
