Biography
Angelo Battiston is a graduate of the Centennial Class of 1995 from Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he was recognised for academic excellence and his contributions to the Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation Centre at the Palmer Clinics. A former scholarship athlete representing the Palmer Rugby Club, he developed an early interest in the management and optimisation of sports performance.
Following graduation, Angelo established his first practice in Cape Town and, in 1997, was appointed as the sole chiropractor to the South Africa national rugby union team during the 1997 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa. He later relocated to Italy, where he built a successful practice focused on sports performance and served as chiropractor to the Italian women’s national rugby union team.
Current Activity
Since moving to the UK in 2008, Angelo has been a faculty member at the Health Sciences University. He teaches across a range of disciplines, including adjustive techniques and clinical diagnosis, and serves as a Clinical Tutor. He was instrumental in the development of the SPRiNT (Sport Injuries Intern Team) programme and co-designed the MSc in Advanced Professional Practice (Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation, later renamed Functional Musculoskeletal Health), for which he served as Programme Leader.
Angelo continues to lecture nationally and internationally and has a particular interest in functional musculoskeletal health and sports performance. He is currently a Consultant to AFC Bournemouth.
Areas of Interest
Angelo enthusiastically enjoys mentoring final-year placement student interns to develop evidence-informed psychomotor proficiency, hands-on techniques, and clinical judgment—drawing on clinical experience—to deliver safe, confident chiropractic adjustments in a clinical practice setting.
