Biography

Laurence completed his batchelor’s undergraduate education at Keele University. Having got to know reatives of the late osteopath SIr Herbert Barker, he embarked on the Diploma course (later superceded by the current undergraduate Master’s degree) at the British School of Osteopathy (then University College of Osteopathy and now Health Sciences University, London campus), London. He won prizes as the best in year at undergraduate level, gained a distinction at Master’s level and attended the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London over the course of a decade as voluntary postgraduate study.

Laurence has practised as an osteopath in many practices over the years, as locum, associate and principal. He has taught in several countries besides England. He is regularly instructed as an expert witness in professional regulatory and criminal cases (latter up to High Court level.) He has previously developed a protocol for analysis/teaching of clinical reasoning and patient assessment and submitted ‘clinical conundrum’ articles to professional journals (both with colleague Barry Jacobs).

He delivers academic ‘classroom’ teaching in theory and practical aspects of analysis of patients’ neurological function and structure, as well as clinical tutoring, supervision of student osteopath-patient interactions; delivery of materials for related lectures and tutorials in neurology and patient assessment/examination.
