Biography
Amanda graduated from AECC University College with a BSc in Chiropractic in 1993. She was in private practice as a chiropractor for ten years during which time she completed a postgraduate MSc in Clinical Chiropractic. In 2003 she returned to Health Sciences University to take a full-time lecturer post and completed a Professional Doctorate in 2008. She is experienced in teaching orthopaedics, rheumatology, case-based learning, research methods and evidence-informed practice, as well as supervising MSc and PhD research dissertations. Amanda is Course Leader for the MSc Chiropractic and MSc Chiropractic (Pre-registration) courses as well as Education and Academic Quality Assurance Lead for the AECC School of Chiropractic.
Roles outside of Health Sciences University include member of the General Chiropractic Council’s Education Committee, HSU representative on the World Federation of Chiropractic’s International Chiropractic Education Alliance (ICEA) and contribution to development of Practice Standards and Guidance from the Royal College of Chiropractors. She has previously worked as an External Examiner for two universities.
Areas of Interest
Areas of interest include orthopaedics, rheumatology, risk of falls, clinical research methods, evidence-informed practice, reflective practice, professional practice, the healthcare role of chiropractors in the UK, educational research, quality assurance, quality improvement, innovation adoption and course design.
