The global healthcare management sector is a vast and complex market. It has been identified as among the most important and fastest growing industries worldwide. Research argues that responsible leadership and management capabilities are increasingly important to enhancing the development and management of healthcare, healthcare systems and ultimately enhancing improved patient outcomes.
This course aims to help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to meaningfully engage with and respond to the impacts of climate change, an ageing society and advances in technology in the promotion of economic, social and environmental sustainability within the global healthcare sector.

What you will learn
The MSc Global Healthcare Management programme has been designed for experienced administrators, managerial staff and clinical professionals working (or aiming to work) in generic healthcare business environments and in private and national healthcare provision systems and settings.
The course is suitable for applicants with undergraduate study and professional work background in business, allied health professions, social and health sciences who are interested in kickstarting or progressing their management and leadership careers in healthcare settings that are primarily set in an international context.
The course covers the following:
- An understanding of the changing nature of business within global healthcare sector, the wider business and external environments in which they operate including in relation to sustainability, and of their impact on society;
- Responsible leadership and management within the healthcare sector. This includes skills in relation to people management, problem solving and critical analysis, enhancing commercial acumen, developing research skills, innovation, abilities to manage complexity including budget setting and change, to build responsible and ethical working cultures, professional networking, effective communication skills and abilities for self-reflection;
- Critical thinking skills and ability to synthesise and apply relevant theory to practice;
- Ability to analyse, interpret and resolve complex business issues relevant to the healthcare sector;
- Recognition for the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, and the skills necessary to build effective internal and external relationships with healthcare sector stakeholders;
- Ability to self-evaluate professional practice through critical reflection and constructive feedback and identify learning and development needs for future practice;
- Ability to appreciate how international dynamics, including how policy and regulatory differences and similarities influences and impact on strategic decision-making such as the development, implementation and management of healthcare systems in national and global settings.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed through a combination of assessment methods such as essays, reports, presentations, case studies and market analyses, reflective commentaries, live consultancy projects and written examination.
Study Time
This course delivery engages a variety of learning and teaching methodologies that includes blended learning, action learning and problem-based learning.
Each unit on the course is 20 credits and is estimated to require about 200 notional hours of learning time to include tutor contact time, independent learning and guided learning hours.

Entry Requirements
What grades do I need? 
A first or second class (2:1 or 2:2) BSc (Hons) degree.
Examples of relevant subjects include at least one of the key topics in generic or specific health business management degrees (inc. Human Resources, Leadership and Strategy, Accounting and Finance, Digital Technologies, Project and/or Operations Management, Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Development and Businesses), an allied health science degree, studies in medicine, nursing, pharmacology, occupational health, osteopathy, physiotherapy, psychology, and chiropractic.
Other, relevant, degrees in social, political, economic, life or environmental sciences may also be considered.

Is there anything else that is required? 
Please note to be accepted onto this course; you will also need to demonstrate that you meet the minimum standards of English. Applicants are required to achieve the equivalent of an IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 or above with no less than 5.5 in each section.

Adetola has oversight of the Health Business School as the Head of School. She also leads the delivery of our flagship MSc Global Healthcare Management programme as Course Leader. She brings extensive experience to her role including curriculum development expertise and management of people, professional, standard and executive programmes at Higher Education level from her previous institutions.

Tuition Fees
£15,000. A Vice-Chancellor’s Bursary of £2,500 is available for international students, reducing the payable fee to £12,500. The bursary will be applied automatically to tuition fees for eligible students.
International students will be required to pay a tuition fee deposit to secure their place on the course.
