Case-based Dermatology

This seminar will provide the following benefits for clinicians, including:

Learning Objectives

Upon completion participants will be able to:

1. Identify and differentiate between a wide range of inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic skin conditions of the foot and ankle, including but not limited to:

Tinea Pedis and Onychomycosis

Eczema (Atopic, Discoid, and Venous)

Psoriasis (Plaque and Pustular)

Plantar Warts (Verrucae)

Corns and Calluses

Benign and Malignant Skin Lesions (e.g., Melanoma and Keratinocyte Cancers)

2. Develop systematic approaches to the clinical assessment and investigation of dermatological presentations of the foot and ankle.

3. Formulate appropriate and evidence-based management plans for the discussed conditions, including topical and systemic therapies.

4. Recognise “red flag” symptoms that necessitate urgent referral to a dermatologist or other specialist.

5. Apply the principles of patient education and self-management for chronic dermatological conditions of the lower limb.

Dr Ivan Bristow, Honorary Professor HSU

Dr Ivan Bristow is a practicing academic and clinician with international expertise in podiatric dermatology. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Podiatry and an adjunct associate professor at La Trobe University and Queensland University of Technology.

Ivan is Member of the Board of Trustees for the Primary Care Dermatology Society. Previously Ivan was senior lecturer at University of Southampton. Ivan holds Fellowships at the Royal College of Podiatry, Higher Education Academy and Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons (Glasgow)

Ivan is extensively published (CV available) and provides regular CPD through courses (both in person and virtual) and blogs through his website. https://www.foot.expert/
