Course Details
This course is aimed at anyone needing to fulfil EYFS requirements and for those that would like to learn more about paediatric first aid. The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a document published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and applies to Early Years childcare in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present’. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current paediatric first aid certificate.’ This course in Paediatric First Aid is the qualification that will help meet those requirements.
Unit One
• The roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
• Planning and dealing with emergencies
• Management of the unconscious infant/child
• Management of infant/ child that is not breathing properly (CPR)
• Airway obstruction and choking
• External bleeding
• Bites and Stings
• Anaphylaxis
• Shock
Unit Two
• Completing records relating to emergencies, injuries and illnesses
• Burns and Scalds
• Minor injuries
• Spinal Injuries
• Poisoning
• Electric Shock
• Effects of heat and cold
• Chronic medical conditions or sudden illness
• Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose

First Aid Trainer/Assessor since 2012 and Sports Therapist since 2003
Sonja runs the training company Branch Training and predominately works around the South Coast of England
Branch Training also has other instructors trained in scenarios that Chiropractors (and those working in similar fields) may face, which may accompany her if needed to accommodate larger groups.
