RCSLT welcomes ambitious plans for SEND reforms – but calls for urgent action on workforce

For Health Sciences University, training the next generation of highly skilled and compassionate speech and language therapists has never been more pressing, as the UK Government publishes its long-awaited Schools White Paper, Every Child Achieving and Thriving, which outlines “a vision for education for the next decade”.

This commitment includes investing £1.8 billion over the next three years to establish an ‘Experts at Hand’ provision, to provide early years settings, mainstream schools, and colleges with so-called wraparound support from professionals including speech and language therapists.
