We are delighted to announce that Jordan Cummins has been appointed Chair of the Health Sciences University’s Board of Governors. Jordan will join the Board following the end of Jeni Bremner’s tenure as Chair in March.

Jordan currently heads the CBI’s UK Competitiveness Department, working with both political and industry leaders to tackle some of the UK’s biggest societal challenges, recently launching the CBI’s first national Health & Life Sciences department.  He is also an Independent Director at UKActive, responsible for driving growth at the UK’s trade association for fitness and activity.

Of his appointment, Jordan said: “I’m delighted to be joining HSU as Chair at a pivotal moment for the institution, and for higher education and healthcare in the UK. HSU’s expansion, progress and ambition are a real testament to the strength of its leadership, staff and student body. I’m very much looking forward to working with the HSU Board and senior leadership to drive the university’s growth and success.

Professor Lesley Haig, Vice Chancellor, said of Jordan’s appointment: “The role of Chair of the Board is crucial to our mission to create a healthier society through education, research, and clinical care. As such, the Board undertook a robust recruitment process to ensure the appointment of an individual who would bring the experience, commitment, and vision needed to advance HSU to the next stage of our institutional development.  From what was a highly talented field of candidates, Jordan’s vision for HSU and experience stood out.”

“I am delighted and very much look forward to working with Jordan and the rest of our dedicated board to realise our ambitions of leading the education, research and community impact of the next generation of the healthcare workforce.”

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jeni Bremner for her tireless dedication to HSU over the last six years as independent governor and Chair. Jeni successfully oversaw our significant transformation from a monotechnic institution to the multi-campus, international Health Sciences University, delivering a broad portfolio of health professional education from apprenticeships through to PHD.”
