Education Secretary visits Health Sciences University

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, to our Bournemouth Campus.
The Secretary of State for Education was met by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lesley Haig, and was introduced to staff and students at the University.
Labour MP for Bournemouth East, Tom Hayes, also visited campus – along with Chief Executive of University Hospitals Dorset, Siobhan Harrington, and Head of Imaging Services at University Hospitals Dorset, James Knowles.
The group enjoyed a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities, including our imaging facilities in Clinical and Rehabilitation Services.
Bridget Phillipson reflected: “Health Sciences University is playing a vital role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals that our NHS and communities rely on.
“The work being done here shows the power of education to transform lives and build a stronger health workforce for the future. It was a pleasure to meet students and staff from HSU today and learn more about this specialist health sciences institution.”
Professor Lesley Haig said: “We were honoured to welcome the Secretary of State for Education to our campus today. Our mission is to create a healthier society through education, research and clinical care and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to show the Secretary how we are doing this.
“At HSU, our students are at the heart of everything we do. Today’s visit highlights the value of investing in the education that equips them to make a difference through healthcare.”
Tom Hayes commented: “I was proud to bring the Secretary of State for Education to Health Sciences University and show her the incredible work happening here in Bournemouth.
“HSU is training the healthcare professionals our NHS so desperately needs, and it’s a clear example of how investment in education can change lives, strengthen public services, and improve the care local people receive.”
