A message from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal

“It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of the Health Sciences University’s Chancellor’s Fund, an initiative that will enable the University to accelerate its mission of advancing health and care education and research and supporting the health and wellbeing of the communities it serves.

“In establishing this Fund, the University reaffirms its belief in the power of knowledge to create opportunity, improve health, and uplift communities. The Chancellor’s Fund will offer an opportunity to enhance student access to education and promote health and wellbeing in the communities in which the HSU operates for future generations.”

Professor Lesley Haig is Vice-Chancellor of Health Sciences University

“The launch of the Health Sciences University Chancellor’s Fund represents a significant milestone in the life of our University and opens an exciting new chapter in supporting our students, research, and communities. This fund reflects our enduring commitment to advancing health and care education, our passion for strengthening research excellence, and our drive in supporting the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

“The Chancellor’s Fund will enable us to accelerate this mission, and enable us to champion innovation and invest in the future healthcare workforce. I am deeply grateful to our Chancellor, HRH The Princess Royal, for inaugurating this initiative and signing the Legacy Charter, establishing the fund’s purpose and principles in perpetuity.

“The Fund itself will be guided by four principles:

  • Widening access to education and training for learners who will shape the future health and care workforce;
  • Advancing pioneering research that improves patient outcomes, enhances clinical practice, and responds to emerging challenges in health and care;
  • Strengthening community partnerships, ensuring our work benefits patients, families, and the wider public;
  • Fostering innovation and leadership, enabling the University to respond dynamically to the evolving needs of healthcare systems.”
