Course Details


A verruca needling course, often offered to foot health practitioners, provides training on a specific treatment method for verruca’s (plantar warts). The course covers the theoretical underpinnings of verruca needling, its practical application, and relevant local anesthetic techniques. It also may include information on pre- and post-treatment care and patient education

  • Critical review of causes and mechanisms of verrucae including differential diagnosis
  • Revise local anaesthetic techniques to enable needling
  • Practical Application correct Needling Technique including pre and post-Treatment Care and patient education
  • Analysis complications and managing more complex presentations

Ian Reilly, Consultant Podiatric Surgeon & Belinda Longhurst, Pdiatry Lecturer

Mr Reilly has been qualified as a Podiatric Surgeon since 1996 and has performed over 10,000 surgical procedures. He has a particular interest in soft tissue and nail surgery and has lectured internationally on plastic surgical procedures of the foot, bunion surgery and steroid injection therapy.Ian has been a Senior Lecturer at Northampton School of Podiatry. He is co-author of Foot and Ankle Injection Techniques: A Practical Guide and has written chapters in Merrimen’s Assessment of the Lower Limb and Brown’s Skin and Minor Surgery.

Belinda is a Podiatry lecturer for the SMAE/QMU eLearning BSc (Hons) Podiatry degree programme (in collaboration with Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh) and a remote podiatry lecturer for the undergraduate and apprenticeship Podiatry BSc (Hons) degrees at Plymouth University, UK and a podiatry lecturer for the new undergraduate Podiatry BSc (Hons) degree at Ziauddin University in Karachi, Pakistan. She is a Fellow of both the Higher Education Academy and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Belinda has a special interest in Podiatric Dermatology and has frequently presented her published work at both national and international conferences. She is also a joint course provider for the Royal College of Podiatry Skin Surgery Course (extended scope of practice).
